Meet the WildYooper: A Big-Print Trail Report Built for Riders Who Wear Glasses

That's me up top. Well — the cartoon version. Orange cap, white beard, glasses. I'm Jason Oberle, I live in Sault Ste. Marie, and I got tired of needing five browser tabs and a pair of reading glasses balanced on my nose in a gas station parking lot to answer one simple question: can we ride tomorrow, and where?

So I built the report I wanted

WildYooper is a snowmobile trail report for the whole Upper Peninsula, written for riders like us. That means a few things, and I don't bend on them:

You can read it. The type on this site is set bigger than the usual trail pages, and there are two settings at the top of every page — Normal and Bigger — so you can set it where your eyes like it and it stays there. No pinch-zooming with your gloves off in the cold. Ever tried that at ten below? Then you know why this site exists.

It's verified, or it's labeled. Closures come from the authority that closed them — DNR, MDOT, the Bridge Authority. Grooming gets reported only when a club or an operator reports it, with a date on it. If I can't verify something, the page says "not yet reported," full stop. I'd rather tell you I don't know than send you forty miles to a gate.

It's plain. If a sentence needs a glossary, I rewrite the sentence.

How it works

Every morning in season I check the official sources and the clubs, town by town — the conditions pages, the bridge, the lake-effect weather, the warnings. The week's whole story lands free in your inbox every Thursday. Riders who want it faster can get text alerts — the morning digest, and instant texts when the bridge closes or a storm warning goes up.

If you see the orange cap out on the trail, wave. That's really me you're waving at — I just have fewer icicles in my beard most days.
